Welcome to the Atlantic City destination page at GamblingResort.com.
Atlantic City sits on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean in South New Jersey on Absecon Island (pronounced ab-seek-in) at the termination point of the Atlantic City Expressway, a 44 miles long toll road. New York City lies 125 miles to the north and Philadelphia lies 61 miles to the northwest.
Atlantic City has inspired the most popular board game of all time, Monopoly. Street names like Park Place, Baltic Avenue, New York Avenue, St. James Place really do exist here in this fabled city.
Always known as a resort town, its famous boardwalk was originally built in 1870 as a way to keep hotel guests along its pathway from dragging sand into hotel lobbies. The boardwalk has always been the heart and soul of this seaside town, what with Ferris Wheels and saltwater taffy ever present, and it has been rebuilt many times over the decades.
Today, the boardwalk fronts a new reality, Gambling Resorts, on a par with some of the best resorts in the world. Places with names like Trump Taj Mahal, Resorts International and Borgata take a back seat to no other hotel in Las Vegas or anywhere else. 30 million visitors per year would agree.
